GRPS P&C Information for Facebook + School Website

19 March 2018

PURPOSE

Parents, as partners in the education process, have a right and a responsibility to play an active role in the education of their children. The P&C enables parents and citizens to meet together to determine the needs and aspirations of the school community.

P&C meetings provide a forum for parents to learn about the activities at the school, raise concerns and have input into the decisions affecting their children.

Above all we want to build a social, engaged and productive school community. To succeed we need parents to actively participate and volunteer in any way they can.

The P&C also invests considerable effort in seeking out and submitting applications for suitable grants.

WORKING BEE

GRPS is a beautiful school with a deep history. The school is aging and needs help to keep looking its best. It’s a great community strengthening activity to get involved in.

Our goal is to have at least ten parents attend each working bee (9am – 1pm), cumulatively that’s 40hrs of work put into our school!

We need more volunteers, please register your interest by contacting Clint Bell – clintbell@me.com. You don’t need to be particularly handy or perhaps you have some specific skills we could utilise.

Next Working Bee Dates:

            Saturday 12th May 2018 – 9am to 1pm

            Saturday 4th August 2018 – 9am to 1pm

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

The P&C is working with parents, students and teachers towards updating the current school uniform for 2019. The goal is to provide a simple, flexible, inclusive and practical uniform. and more practical uniform.

No decisions have been made yet on what the new uniform will be. Sufficient notice prior to the commencement of the new uniform will be provided, as well as a change-over period where either uniform will be acceptable.

Thank you to all parents, students and teachers that have participated in the project so far. We look forward to revealing the new uniform soon.

PRE-OWNED UNIFORM SHOP

We want perfectly good pre-owned uniforms to get a second chance. Not only does it make financial sense it’s also good for the environment. Pre-owned uniforms are sorted and available to purchase for a small donation to the P&C to re-invest into the school.

If you have any reasonable quality uniforms your child has grown out of please drop off to the school office in bags any time.

Please email GRPSparents@gmail.com to organize a viewing.
